The organisers of the co-located 346 Traffex, 3520 Parkex and Street Design 2011 events say that exhibitors and attendees exceeded expectations.
The Traffex, Parkex and Street Design 2011 opened at the NEC in the UK in late March. The three shows were dedicated to traffic management, parking and urban design and highlighted the latest products and services for these sectors. Over 9,000 attended Traffex, which was celebrating its 25th anniversary, taking a look back at innovations and achievements in the industry.
Two individuals received a Traffex award for significant contribution by an individual: Dennis Robertson, from777 TRL, who developed the TRANSYT and SCOOT software used by many across the world on a daily basis; and Kim Heglung of Lattix, a passionate advocate for passive safety, who is best known for the pioneering development of the Lattix passive safety post. A posthumous award was given to Brian Simmonite for his contribution to the transport industry, while 1134 Siemens and AGD Systems picked up awards for most innovative company.
The 450 exhibitors, ranging from highways infrastructure providers to parking management systems and street furniture developers, were really pleased with the high turn-out of visitors, especially in these economically challenging times. Bill Laurie, sales and marketing director at Metric Group, says: "In light of the current recession, I'm delighted with the attendance at this year's show. We have been really busy and as always, the show is a great way to gather enquiries, meet new customers, and meet our distributors from abroad. We always look forward to exhibiting." Each show provided seminar sessions, organised alongside the content partners, with prominent speakers from the DfT,2309 Highways Agency, 2768 Siemens Mobility, 2377 Mouchel, the 3521 British Parking Association, the 3522 Landscape Institute and 3523 English Heritage. Patrick Troy, chief executive of the British Parking Association, commented, "We had 28 seminars in two theatres, which is more than we ever had before. We received great feedback from our members who are exhibiting here; they are very pleased with the quality of the delegates at the event." The next combined Traffex, Parkex and Street Design event will be held at Hall 5, NEC Birmingham, 16 - 18 April 2013.
